I found that the FD's job, even outwith an SME environment, covered a variety of roles other than the usual "Accounts".

This can include -

• Product Costings,   
• New product or Capex Evaluations using DCF techniques,
• Grant Applications, RSA, ERDG or similar,
• Long and Short Term Cash Flows,
• Raising funding,
• Company Secretarial work,
• Competitor review,
• IT
• and a continual assessment of how we could improve our performance.

I have experience of all of the above.
